BANDUNG — Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) hosted the 2025 ITB Education Open House on December 13–14, 2025, at Sasana Budaya Ganesha (Sabuga), Bandung. Themed “Together with ITB, Towards an Impactful Future,” the event informed prospective students, parents, and teachers about undergraduate programs, admission routes, and ITB’s educational initiatives.

The two-day event drew over 23,000 registrants from across Indonesia. Visitors learned about study programs, leading research, graduate opportunities, and the student selection process.

One of the faculties actively engaging with prospective students was the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD). It held a special session called “Getting to Know the Faculty and School Better.” In this session, the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) gave a comprehensive presentation on the academic fields and learning experiences within the FTMD environment.

FTMD lecturers Abdul Hakim Masyhur, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D.; Ilman Nuran Zaini, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D.; and Ms. Indria Herman, Ph.D., led this session. They explained the scope, curriculum, research, and career prospects of Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, and Materials Engineering. The Dean of FTMD ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hermawan Judawisastra, and the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Eng. Pandji Prawisudha, also attended. They emphasized FTMD’s commitment to producing globally competitive engineers and researchers.

FTMD featured an interactive booth where prospective students spoke with lecturers and students. Here, visitors learned about the FTMD experience: a five-year Bachelor’s and Master’s Integration Program (PISM), internship and double-degree options, student exchanges, and international collaborations.

The FTMD booth presented student research and innovations that captivated visitors. Mechanical Engineering students designed Adjustable Scoliosis Brackets, while Materials Engineering students crafted shoes from recycled masks. These projects showcase FTMD’s tangible impact on technological progress that benefits society.

At the 2025 ITB Education Open House, ITB unveiled an updated admissions system for the 2026 Academic Year. One of the key changes is the transformation of the ITB Independent Selection into the Superior Student Selection (SSU) to recruit talent more inclusively, encompassing both academic and non-academic excellence.

The SSU pathway includes two schemes: the Non-Test SSU and the Regular Test SSU. The non-test scheme targets students with academic achievements, national talents such as former National Science Olympiad (OSN) winners, excellence in the arts, sports, culture, and religion, as well as affirmative action for underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions (3T).

ITB’s Director of Student Admissions, Achmad Syarief, S.Sn., M.S.D., Ph.D., described this reform as a strategic step toward creating a fairer, more potential-oriented selection process.

“SSU prioritizes selecting candidates with exceptional potential and talent. This pathway rewards achievement, not financial means. We seek to empower talents from all regions to thrive through an ITB education,” he said.

Through the 2025 ITB Education Open House, prospective students can gain a more comprehensive understanding of study options and the academic experience. The active participation of the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) ITB also highlights ITB’s tangible contribution. The event shows how ITB is working to build an impactful future for the nation.
