Bandung – The Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) ITB held the second graduation celebration of the 2023-2024 academic year in the Aula Timur of the ITB Ganesha Campus on Friday, April 26, 2024. The event was attended by graduates as well as FTMD ITB faculty and staff.

Prof. Dr. Lavi Rizki Zuhal, Vice Dean of Academics FTMD ITB, reported that in April 2024, FTMD ITB graduated 197 students from undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs.

Specifically, 77 graduates came from the Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering Program, including 11 cum laude recipients. From the Undergraduate Aerospace Engineering Program, there were 21 graduates, with four achieving cum laude status. Additionally, 17 graduates from the Undergraduate Materials Engineering Program completed their studies, two of whom earned cum laude honors.

At the master’s level, 13 graduates from the Master’s Mechanical Engineering Program, including one cum laude recipient. The Master’s Aerospace Engineering Program saw 32 graduates, seven of whom graduated cum laude. Meanwhile, the Master’s Materials Engineering Program had six graduates, with two achieving cum laude status.

I Made Wiragunarsa was the sole cum laude graduate from the Doctoral Mechanical Engineering Program. Additionally, there was one graduate from the Doctoral Aerospace Engineering Program.

The graduation celebration was opened with remarks from FTMD ITB Dean Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara. In his speech, he emphasized that along with their degrees and honors comes a significant responsibility to become pioneers of national progress. He highlighted the importance of bringing intelligent solutions and maintaining ITB’s ethical integrity and noble values. He firmly hoped that the graduates would continue to excel and uphold ITB’s good name. He also encouraged them to maintain strong ties with their alma mater, building a robust network to support their professional careers in the future.

A notable fact at this April graduation was that out of 32 Master’s Aerospace Engineering graduates, 15 were part of a Double Degree program between FTMD ITB and École nationale de l’aviation civile (ENAC), a prestigious French aviation institution. This program, a collaboration between FTMD ITB and the Ministry of Transportation, allows students to earn dual degrees from two different institutions. The program underscores a commitment to providing quality education and producing graduates who can compete internationally, contributing superior human resources to shape better policies and innovations for the nation’s future. Michel Chauvin, representing ENAC, attended the ceremony and witnessed the students’ success in completing the program.

FTMD also presented awards to students for their achievements in reputable international scientific publications for the April 2024. The award recipients included:

– Azaria Haykal Ahmad – Master’s Program in Mechanical Engineering
– M. Yusril Sulaiman – Master’s Program in Mechanical Engineering
– M. Ghullam Reza Abramsyah – Master’s Program in Aerospace Engineering
– Novi Dwi Widya Rini – Master’s Program in Materials Science and Engineering
– Rachendra Akmalia – Master’s Program in Materials Science and Engineering

These awards recognized their contributions to producing high-quality scientific work that advances mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, and materials science and engineering knowledge. Their work, published in reputable international journals, reflects their dedication and competence in research and scientific publication. This recognition motivates other students to strive for excellence and contribute to scientific research.

The graduation celebration was marked by joy and happiness, signaling the graduates’ first steps toward more significant societal and industrial roles.
