Bandung: To introduce the world of heavy equipment industry, the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering held a guest lecture with PT Lelangon, discussing the topic “Heavy Equipment Industry in Indonesia” on Friday (29/02/24).

This guest lecture was directly presented by the Founder of PT Lelangon, Mr. Putu Gde Wanya, and attended by key company leaders, including Mr. Inang D Sukriman, an ITB Mechanical Engineering alumni.

The heavy equipment industry has a close connection with the world of mechanical engineering due to the important role of mechanical engineering in designing, developing, and maintaining equipment and machines used in the heavy equipment industry sector. Aspects such as ergonomic design and machine safety are also the focus of mechanical engineering. Expertise in mechanical engineering is highly needed to address complex technical challenges in heavy equipment industry operations.

To support the knowledge and skills of its students, the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, directly invited PT Lelangon to give a public lecture on the heavy equipment industry, which is the company’s focus.

PT Lelangon has been a leading national company in Crane’s design, manufacture, and installation since 1993. Their products include Overhead Cranes, Container Cranes, Luffing Cranes, Ship Unloaders, Ship Loaders, and Deck Cranes. PT Lelangon also provides services such as engineering design, consultation, and survey for cranes and winders and modification, refurbishment, repairs, and maintenance services for cranes.

In his presentation, Mr. Putu explained the products and services owned by PT Lelangon. The lecture had an open discussion system in two directions, allowing students to ask questions directly. He also highlighted large companies collaborating with PT Lelangon to use heavy equipment products.

“It all starts with intention. If you have the intention, you can achieve it. What’s difficult is the opportunity; that’s why I’m here to provide opportunities,” concluded Mr. Putu regarding what students need to prepare to join the industry immediately after graduation.

He also stated that they see many students from ITB showing great potential in developing their companies, both in the private and public sectors. Therefore, they are very pleased when invited to ITB and are ready to open the greatest opportunities for students to work with them. They welcome collaboration through internships, projects, or even career building together with PT Lelangon.
