Bandung – The Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) hosted PT Astra Otoparts Tbk in an Executive Talks session with the theme “Challenges on Manufacturing Industries” on Friday (24/02/23). PT Astra Otoparts Tbk presented their experts, who are also alumni of ITB Mechanical Engineering, namely Donny Novanda (Mechanical Engineering 1995) and Aji Atmojo (Mechanical Engineering 1989). The event was held offline in the FTMD ITB Co-Working Space and was attended by students and lecturers.

During this executive talks, the speakers from PT Astra Otoparts Tbk shared their insights on the current state of the manufacturing industry and discussed the challenges faced by manufacturers in today’s business environment.

They discussed the immense potential of Industry 4.0 in efficiency and productivity enhancement. They also explained approaches to various methods that can be used to drive the development of Industry 4.0 in Southeast Asia. In addition, the executives from PT AOP TBK emphasized the importance of engineering processes in the manufacturing industry and digitalization to improve company performance and competitiveness.

Aji Atmojo, a 1989 graduate of ITB Mechanical Engineering, discussed the trends in product engineering development and technology transformation in product development. One of the biggest technology transformation trends in product development is the change in product mechanical design, prototyping, testing, and production. There’s a shift from mechanical systems to software and data-driven tools both at the design stage and application level with direct internet connectivity. This highlights the importance of technology application in product development and the vast potential that can be harnessed by the industry.

This event, of course, provided participants the opportunity to network with professionals in the industry and learn from the experiences of the executives from PT Astra Otoparts Tbk. This Executive Talks series is an initiative by FTMD to bridge the gap between academia and industry and facilitate students to learn from successful alumni and connect with professionals in the industry.
