FTMD ITB Engages with Industry Partners at Temu Mitra Industri 2026
Bandung, itb.ac.id – The Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) participated in the Temu Mitra Industri 2026 (Industry Partner Meeting) organized by the ITB Directorate of Alumni Affairs and Career Development at the West Hall (Aula Barat), ITB Ganesha Campus, on Thursday (7/5/2026). This event serves as a strategic forum for ITB and industry partners to discuss strengthening educational quality, developing student competencies, and enhancing curriculum relevance to future workforce demands.
As a faculty with close ties to the industrial sector, FTMD ITB participated in this event through a faculty booth, which served to introduce academic programs, research activities, laboratories, and various collaboration opportunities to industry partners. The FTMD ITB booth was represented by Dr. Eng. Gea Fardias Mu’min, S.T., M.T., and Dr. Eng. Ir. Firman Bagja Juangsa, S.T., M.Eng., along with FTMD partnership staff who engaged in direct discussions with company representatives regarding potential collaborations in education, research, and technological development.
The Head of the Subdirectorate of Collaboration and Career Development at ITB, Prof. Ir. Ardiyan Harimawan, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., stated that this forum aims to obtain direct feedback from the industry regarding the competencies needed in the workforce today and in the future. Through open dialogue, ITB strives to build closer synergy between higher education and the industry to prepare graduates who are adaptive to change.
Meanwhile, the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs at ITB, Prof. Dr. Irwan Meilano, S.T., M.Sc., emphasized the importance of industry involvement in the educational development process. According to him, rapid technological changes require universities to continuously adjust their curriculum and learning methods to meet future needs.
For FTMD, collaboration with the industry plays a vital role given the nature of its academic fields, which are closely related to the real-world application of technology. Industry feedback can serve as a foundation for curriculum development, internship program implementation, research collaboration, and the design of learning projects that provide hands-on experience to students.
In addition to discussing curriculum development, the forum raised various issues concerning graduate competency requirements. Industry representatives from various sectors shared their insights on the importance of mastering technical competencies, problem-solving skills, utilizing digital technology and artificial intelligence, as well as strengthening interpersonal skills and adaptability in an ever-evolving work environment.
On the same occasion, the Head of the ITB Quality Assurance Unit, Prof. Dr.Eng. Suprijadi, M.Eng., explained the importance of integrating industry feedback into the educational quality assurance system. This approach is carried out through various mechanisms, such as tracer studies, employer surveys, advisory boards, as well as research collaborations and internship programs that enable students to gain more contextual learning experiences.
FTMD’s participation in Temu Mitra Industri 2026 aligns with the faculty’s commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically excellent but also ready to face industrial challenges and global technological developments. Through forums like this, FTMD continues to strengthen networks with various industry partners to open wider opportunities for collaboration in education, research, and human resource development.
Moving forward, the synergy among FTMD, ITB, and the industrial sector is expected to further strengthen a higher education ecosystem that is adaptive, innovative, and relevant to societal needs as well as national and international industrial developments.
