Two Decades of ITB Mechanical Engineering 2006: Alumni Strengthen Ties and Contribute to Endowment Fund
BANDUNG, ftmd.ac.id – Mechanical Engineering alumni from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Class of 2006, commemorated 20 years since entering ITB through a series of reunion activities titled “ITB 2 Decades 2006”. The peak of the event took place on Saturday (August 22, 2026) at the ITB Ganesha Campus in Bandung, followed by a Mechanical Engineering alumni gathering within the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) ITB.
The ITB 2006 grand reunion brought together hundreds, over 600 alumni from various faculties. The series of activities had been underway since February 2026 through various pre-events before culminating in August. One of the opening highlights of the main event was a joint carnival with ITB alumni from the Class of 1976, who were celebrating their 50th anniversary since matriculation.
Mechanical Engineering Alumni 2006 Reunion at FTMD ITB
Following the ITB 2006 grand reunion activities, the Mechanical Engineering Class of 2006 continued their gathering at the Coworking Space on the 1st Floor of FTMD ITB. The meeting provided an opportunity for alumni to reminisce about their college days while strengthening camaraderie two decades after completing their academic journey at ITB.
The reunion was also attended by the Dean of FTMD ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hermawan Judawisastra, M.Eng., alongside Ir. Satrio Wicaksono, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., as Head of the Mechanical Engineering Study Program. Also present was Ir. Vani Virdyawan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., an alumnus of the Mechanical Engineering Class of 2006 who currently serves as a lecturer at FTMD ITB. The presence of these FTMD academic community members further strengthened the bond between alumni and their alma mater during this two-decade milestone for the Mechanical Engineering Class of 2006.
The reunion took place in a warm and familiar atmosphere, bringing together alumni who now work across various professional sectors. The event also provided a space to strengthen inter-alumni networking and deepen connections with their alma mater.
Chairman of the ITB 2006 Mechanical Engineering Reunion Committee, Aris Irmi, emphasized that the reunion was not merely a gathering to reminisce, but also a pivotal moment for alumni to give back to their alma mater.
“A reunion is not just about gathering. It is also about how we can give back to ITB,” Aris stated.
M2006 Alumni Present Endowment Fund
As a contribution to their alma mater, ITB Mechanical Engineering alumni from the Class of 2006 donated an endowment fund of IDR 50 million to ITB. This contribution is expected to support the needs and ongoing development of the campus.
“Today, we from the 2006 Mechanical Engineering alumni present a contribution to our beloved campus, ITB, in the form of an endowment fund of 50 million rupiahs, which will be utilized as effectively as possible by the campus.” Aris added.
The presentation of this endowment fund reflects the alumni’s dedication to maintaining strong ties with their alma mater and delivering tangible contributions 20 years after becoming part of ITB.
The 2006 Mechanical Engineering reunion serves as momentum to reconnect graduates, honor their educational journey at ITB, and foster a spirit of giving back that will continue to benefit FTMD and ITB moving forward.
