FTMD ITB Receives Visit from PTDI to Discuss Potential Collaboration in CMM Utilization
Bandung, Tuesday, March 31, 2026 – The Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) of the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) received a visit from PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) to discuss potential collaboration in utilizing the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) facilities owned by FTMD ITB.
The visit was attended by a PTDI delegation comprising Redo N. Putra, Program Manager; Akiyumas Sahadewo, Finance & Resources Manager; and Rizki Harimulyo, Head of Division. The delegation was warmly welcomed by representatives of FTMD ITB lecturers, namely Dr. Eng. Ir. Firman Bagja Juangsa, S.T., M.Eng., Ir. Gea, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., and Ir. Vani Virdyawan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.
The meeting began with a discussion of the capabilities of the CMM facility within the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FMAE/FTMD) of ITB, including its functions and roles in supporting high-precision measurement of engineering components. This facility has strategic potential for use in quality inspection, dimensional verification, and component testing processes that require high levels of accuracy, particularly in the aerospace industry.
During the discussion, both parties explored various collaboration opportunities, including utilizing laboratory facilities for industrial testing needs, supporting applied research activities, and the potential involvement of human resources, both lecturers and students, in projects relevant to industry needs.
PTDI expressed interest in the potential use of the FTMD ITB CMM facility as part of efforts to improve the quality and efficiency of industrial processes. Meanwhile, FTMD ITB welcomed this collaboration opportunity as a means of strengthening synergy between universities and industry in the development of technology and human resources in the aerospace sector.
The discussion was interactive and constructive, focusing on the importance of sustainable collaboration aligned with industry needs. This meeting is expected to be the first step in strengthening cooperation between the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI), particularly in utilizing laboratory facilities to support the development of aerospace technology in Indonesia.
In the future, this collaboration will also open up broader opportunities, not only at the national level but also globally. As industry demands for high-precision technology and international quality standards increase, facilities such as Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) play a crucial role in enhancing competitiveness.
Through this collaboration, FTMD, ITB, and PTDI are expected to contribute to developing superior human resources, developing research and innovation, and promoting Indonesia’s role in the global aerospace industry.
