The meeting included representatives from FTMD ITB: Ir. Vani Virdyawan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.; Dr. Arie Wibowo, S.Si., M.Si.; Abdul Hakim Masyhur, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D.; Dr. Eng. Gea Fardias Mu’min, S.T., M.T.; Dr. Eng. Ir. Pandji Prawisudha, S.T., M.T.; and Prof. Dr. Ir. Hermawan Judawisastra, M.Eng. On this occasion, FTMD ITB welcomed a delegation from Kangwon National University, consisting of Prof. Suk-Jin Ha, Prof. Insu Paek, Prof. Yosheph Yang, and Prof. Chung Il Park from the Department of Mechanical Convergence Engineering at KNU.
The discussion covered institutional profiles, joint research opportunities, and collaborative educational programs. Both parties outlined their academic structures and research focuses. FTMD ITB highlighted strengths in mechanical, aerospace, and materials engineering. KNU presented its Department of Mechanical Convergence Engineering, with strengths in mechatronics, biomedical engineering, and technological convergence. The discussion emphasized academic collaboration between FTMD ITB and Kangwon National University, focusing on joint research and student exchanges.
Opportunities for Advanced Studies and Collaborative Programs
One key topic was the opportunity for FTMD ITB students to pursue master’s and doctoral studies at KNU. Postgraduate candidates at KNU must have a high GPA and strong research capability. Students must also communicate directly with a supervising professor, sending a CV and academic transcripts.

Exchange and Scholarship Support
KNU also offers student exchange programs, with approximately 15 students from various countries each year. Registration is open directly through KNU’s official international website. Indonesian students can apply for scholarships from the Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan (LPDP), the Indonesian Endowment Fund for Education. The South Korean government also offers the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS), formerly known as the Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP). This scholarship is open to international students, including Indonesians.
This meeting is expected to establish a strong foundation for sustainable academic collaboration between the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and the Department of Mechanical Convergence Engineering at Kangwon National University. It also opens up opportunities for collaboration in education, student and researcher exchanges, and future joint research development.
