Bandung – The Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) continues to demonstrate its strength and excellence in higher education. During a visit on August 7, 2024, FTMD ITB welcomed a delegation from University Kuala Lumpur – Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL-MIAT).

UniKL-MIAT is a leading institution in Malaysia recognized by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) as an Approved Training Organization (ATO).

This visit not only serves as tangible evidence of FTMD ITB’s reputation on the international stage but also showcases how FTMD ITB continues to innovate and collaborate for the advancement of aerospace education. The UniKL-MIAT delegation, led by Mrs. Haslinawati along with four lecturers and eight students, was warmly welcomed by Mr. Rianto Adhy Sasongko, ST., M.Sc., Ph.D., Head of the Undergraduate Aerospace Engineering Program. During the discussions, Mrs. Lia Amelia, Ph.D., introduced the profile of FTMD ITB and the various educational collaboration schemes offered.

One of the main points that caught UniKL’s attention was the 3+1 collaboration program, where UniKL students can complete three years of education in Malaysia and one year at ITB. Additionally, the double degree program for the master’s level with a 1+1 scheme also became a highly sought-after topic, allowing students to earn two master’s degrees from both institutions within two years.

FTMD ITB’s openness in providing opportunities for UniKL students to participate in student exchange programs also demonstrates ITB’s strong commitment to building a solid global education network. This not only enriches the students’ learning experiences but also strengthens relationships between universities for joint research, student exchanges, and other collaborative initiatives.

This visit marks a promising initial step in establishing a mutually beneficial partnership between ITB and UniKL MIAT. This collaboration is expected to bring significant benefits to both parties, broaden academic horizons, and open new opportunities in the field of aerospace education and industry.
