Collaborating for the Nation’s Progress at the 2023 Student Product and Poster Exhibition
Bandung: The Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) ITB held the 2023 Student’s Product and Poster Exhibition at the Aula Barat ITB on December 4, 2023. This annual event has been held since 2011, showcasing the long history and dedication of FTMD’s best academic staff in organizing this activity.
The exhibition featured the results of the Mechanical Engineering undergraduate courses Engineering Product Design (MS3203) and Engineering Product Prototyping (MS4100), taught over an entire year. This exhibition captured the attention of the ITB academic community, the public, and the students’ families.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration
Since 2014, some students from the Industrial Engineering Management undergraduate program at the Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI ITB) have taken the Engineering Product Design (MS3203) course. However, continuing to the Engineering Product Prototyping (MS4100) course is not mandatory like Mechanical Engineering students. This year, Biomedical Engineering collaborated with Mechanical Engineering, resulting in innovations and creative technological tools in healthcare, such as the Portable Infusion Pump, Portable Blood Warmer, and others.
Something New
This year’s exhibition not only expanded its coverage to the Engineering Product Design (MS3203) and Engineering Product Prototyping (MS4100) courses but also presented the outcomes of courses like Project on Materials Selection and Product Processing Oriented (MT4002), Aviation System Planning (AE4041), and Aircraft Design (AE4040).
Material Engineering students successfully showcased innovations from the Materials Selection and Product Processing Oriented (MT4002) course, such as plastic briquettes as a solution to Bandung’s Waste Emergency. They also created 3D filaments from domestically sourced natural resources, which are more environmentally friendly than commonly sold plastic 3D filaments on the market.
Not only did Material Engineering students succeed in showcasing innovations at the 2023 FTMD ITB Student Product and Poster Exhibition, but Aerospace Engineering students also contributed with various aviation system planning and aircraft design solutions to address issues in the country. For example, the Jalavira Team presented the idea of an Amphibious UAV for the First Response in Firefighting to combat forest fires in Kalimantan and its surrounding areas.
Student Contributions
Despite needing to prepare to exhibit their products, Material Engineering and Aerospace Engineering students successfully contributed their innovations to this exhibition. The Head of the Material Engineering Program, Dr. Rer. Nat Mardiyati, hopes that in the coming years, they can receive earlier information for better preparation.
This year, FTMD also invited several lecturers from SBM ITB and the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) to be judges to evaluate the products and posters presented by the students. To find out the winners, please click here.
The 2023 FTMD ITB Student Product and Poster Exhibition proved that multidisciplinary collaboration and the expansion of course coverage bring new colors and spirit to exploring students’ creative potential. This event is not only a platform to showcase ideas and innovations but also a form of appreciation for students’ dedication to producing high-quality work.
