Bandung: Having a great career is a dream for every student. The idea of how important it is to prepare yourself to face the challenges of the professional world became the main foundation in organizing the “M-elayani Persiapan Karier” event with the theme Navigating post-graduate life initiated by PT Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia in collaboration with the Mechanical Engineering Student Association (HMM) on November 24, 2023. With the primary purpose of providing valuable insights, this program was specifically designed to provide students with an in-depth view of the important aspects that need to be prepared when entering the professional world. A strategic step is expected to be a pillar for their future success.

The speakers who attended the program were alumni of Mechanical Engineering FTMD, namely Hans Kurniawan (Mechanical Engineering 2011) – Purchasing Supplier Management Dept Head, Yusuf Ginanjar (Mechanical Engineering 2007) – Products & Cast Planning Dept Head, Ferdian Cahya Lingga P. (Mechanical Engineering 2017) – Parts Center SPV, M. Isra Aulia (Mechanical Engineering 2017) – Production SPVI, and finally Juniza Syahri, Human Capital and Corporate Service Division Head. They are professionals who have experience in manufacturing.

The first speaker, Yusuf Ginanjar, introduced PT Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia as a manufacturing company engaged in diesel engines that are reliable, efficient, and environmentally friendly. Isuzu’s slogan is “Real Partner Real Journey,” which means true partner and shared adventure to be achieved for businessmen who need Isuzu vehicles.

He also added that Isuzu broke several records in 2022, where they managed to achieve the highest utilization. As much as 86% with the highest volume as well. Not only that, they also achieved the highest sales in 2022. In that same year, Isuzu could also export its products for the first time and was trusted to be used in other countries, such as the Philippines, Africa, and Central America.

It was followed by Juniza Syahri, who discussed the recruitment process at PT Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia. He said how CVs are written now differs from how they were written in the past. In the past, when making a CV, adding as much information as possible, but now, to make a CV, it is recommended to compile with a strategic approach and only write the important things.

Juniza also highlighted the use of keywords, which are words that fit the company’s needs. Speaking to the point is highly recommended. When looking for a job, knowing what company you are applying to is important. This information will influence how we structure our CV and present ourselves during the interview. All of this creates a strong and consistent impression.

“When declaring yourself on your CV, make sure that what you declare reflects who you are. Avoid copy-pasting without a good understanding. For example, if you participated in an internship recently, give accurate information and not just guess. If you describe yourself as ‘enthusiastic’ or ‘positive,’ make sure that when you are interviewed, you can demonstrate these characteristics. Therefore, we need to be honest and match the company’s needs.”

In addition, before attending a job interview, make sure that you have a good understanding of the job description or tasks that you will be doing. Not only through searching on search engines like Google, we can also utilize internal sources of information, such as asking seniors or colleagues who may have had similar experiences. Don’t hesitate to use the resources around you.
