Bandung – The American Spaces team, part of the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, visited the Maker Innovation Space (MIS) at the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). MIS, also known as the Creation, Innovation, and Prototyping facility, is a result of a strategic partnership between FTMD ITB, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and Arizona State University through the Higher Education Partnership Initiative (HEPI).

The American Spaces delegation included Regional Public Engagement Specialist Marcy Carrel, Public Diplomacy Officer Abraham Lee, American Spaces Specialist Christian Simanullang, and American Spaces Coordinator Endang Nuryanti. They observed how MIS serves as a dynamic space fostering collaboration among students, faculty, and researchers in developing prototypes and innovative solutions.

MIS is equipped with advanced technologies such as 3D printers, laser cutters, electronic prototyping devices, and other state-of-the-art tools, enabling cross-disciplinary collaboration and hands-on learning for students. Beyond being a hub for generating new ideas, MIS aims to be a center for collaboration that strengthens the connections between the academic community and industry partners.

The visit was warmly welcomed by FTMD ITB Dean Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara and MIS coordinator Dr. Yazdi Ibrahim Jenie, S.T., M.T. The presence of the American Spaces delegation brought recognition to MIS, underscoring its efforts to become an internationally renowned collaboration space.
