Bandung – On October 26, 2024, the atmosphere was filled with pride and joy as the October Graduation Celebration for the 2024/2025 academic year took place. With enthusiasm and a sense of accomplishment, the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) ITB celebrated the graduation of 375 students, including 156 graduates in mechanical engineering, 71 in aerospace engineering, 51 in materials engineering, as well as master’s and doctoral graduates across various related programs.

Prof. Lavi Rizki Zuhal, Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at FTMD, reported that among the graduates, 42 bachelor’s graduates in mechanical engineering, 33 in aerospace engineering, 27 in materials engineering, 23 master’s graduates in mechanical engineering, 4 in aerospace engineering, and 7 in materials engineering achieved the distinction of cum laude.

In his remarks, the Dean of FTMD ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, reminded graduates of the importance of lifelong learning, adaptability, and the pursuit of knowledge supported by integrity, collaboration, and humility. “These competencies have been instilled in our graduates by FTMD,” he said. Prof. Tatacipta emphasized that graduation is not an end but the beginning of a long-lasting partnership between alumni and their alma mater. He expressed hope that alumni would return to campus to share their experiences and inspire other students.

A notable highlight of this graduation ceremony was the participation of 21 out of 23 graduates from the Master of Mechanical Engineering program, who were part of a collaboration between PT KAI and FTMD ITB. As part of its efforts to enhance human resource competency and quality, PT KAI sent its best employees to pursue a master’s degree in this program. This tailored initiative addresses specific industry challenges, with a curriculum designed to meet the needs of PT KAI and the railway industry. This collaboration underscores FTMD ITB’s commitment to supporting national industry advancement and equipping graduates with skills relevant to making a positive impact in the sector.

During the celebration, FTMD also awarded recognition to students who excelled in producing internationally recognized scientific publications. The awardees included:

  • Pilar Bela Persada (Master’s Program in Materials Science and Engineering)
  • Zido Yuwazama (Master’s Program in Mechanical Engineering)
  • Leyoni Metanencya Butarbutar (Master’s Program in Materials Science and Engineering)
  • Hilmy Nur Hidayat (Master’s Program in Materials Science and Engineering)
  • Ahmad Naufal Rizki Aini (Master’s Program in Materials Science and Engineering)
