BANDUNG – On June 11-12, 2024, the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs of FTMD ITB, Prof. Ir. Lavi Rizki Zuhal, PhD, along with Mr. Rianto Adhy Sasongko, S.T, M.Sc., Ph.D., attended the Indonesian Aviation Industry Forum 2024 at the Jasmine Ballroom, Pullman Grand Central Bandung, organized by Boeing Indonesia.

The forum aims to develop opportunities for Indonesia’s industry in various fields. There are supply chain collaborations in the aerospace industry, workforce training and development, aircraft maintenance and repair, research, and sustainable aviation.

In support of the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision, the forum highlighted opportunities in Indonesia’s Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) sector, aerospace workforce training and development, aircraft component manufacturing, research, and sustainable aviation. Safety and quality in the aerospace industry remain top priorities in these development efforts.

Indonesia, poised to become the fourth-largest market in the world, is strategically positioned to leverage its rich aerospace industry history. This will enable local talents to seize opportunities in the future aviation industry through Indonesian or global companies. Such efforts are also expected to attract international companies to invest in Indonesia and utilize local talents, further boosting the country’s aerospace industry.

The event also highlighted the 75-year-long cooperation between Boeing and Indonesia. This collaboration encompasses commercial aviation, defense, space, supply chains, academic partnerships, and talent development across the local industry. Zaid Alami, Director of PT Boeing Indonesia, stated that Boeing is ready to assist and support the creation of a robust aviation industry ecosystem in Indonesia.

As an esteemed educational institution offering aerospace engineering programs, from undergraduate to doctoral, FTMD ITB was one of the participants in this forum. Prof. Ir. Lavi Rizki Zuhal presented the educational and research activities conducted at FTMD ITB in aerospace, underscoring the institution’s active role and significant contribution to drafting the Aerospace Industry Ecosystem Development Roadmap.

This forum allowed FTMD ITB and Boeing to explore collaboration opportunities in research and education. This collaboration is expected to enhance the quality of teaching and research and the graduates of FTMD ITB.

The Indonesian Aviation Industry Forum 2024 is a pivotal platform to foster collaboration between industry and academia in developing Indonesia’s aerospace industry. With strong support and cooperation, Indonesia is well-positioned to succeed in the global aviation industry, which aligns with the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision.
