Congratulations! Fifteen Students Graduate from the Double-Degree Master’s Program
Bandung – At the second graduation ceremony of the 2023-2024 academic year, the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) celebrated the graduation of 15 students from the Double-Degree Master’s Program, a collaboration between FTMD ITB and École nationale de l’aviation civile (ÉNAC) in France. This program is also the result of an academic collaboration between the Ministry of Transportation and FTMD ITB, starting with Batch 1.
The Ministry of Transportation, as part of its efforts to enhance the capacity and capability of human resources in the field of air transportation, sent 15 of its best employees to continue their Double-Degree Master’s studies at FTMD ITB and ENAC in the first batch. This program marks a joint commitment to providing quality education and producing graduates who can compete internationally, contributing significantly to the nation’s development. Currently, the program is in its third batch as of August 2023, with six top personnel from the Ministry of Transportation participating.
ITB, through FTMD, was chosen because it is the only university in Indonesia that offers an Aerospace Engineering program from undergraduate to doctoral levels. ENAC was selected as the partner university due to its reputation as the best higher education institution in France in aviation.
At the April graduation celebration hosted by FTMD ITB, Michel Chauvin, a representative from ENAC, attended to witness the students’ success in completing the program on April 26, 2024.
One of the graduates, AA Ayu Diah Windusari, expressed gratitude for the support from the FTMD ITB faculty and staff and appreciated the excellent cooperation between FTMD ITB, the Ministry of Transportation, and ENAC.
In her speech, she emphasized the valuable academic experiences gained during the program. She had the opportunity to undertake her end-of-studies project for six months with the operational control system team, which provided deep insights into the challenges faced by the aviation industry, such as increasing operational efficiency and technological advancements.
This experience is undoubtedly helpful in understanding Indonesia’s challenges in adopting the latest technologies to advance the air transportation. With the knowledge and skills acquired, the graduates are expected to face future challenges, both internationally and in supporting the progress of air transportation in Indonesia. FTMD ITB has shaped them into resilient individuals ready to face global changes and contribute significantly to the nation’s advancement.
In her statement, Ayu Diah Windusari affirmed that every drop of sweat and tear during their journey paid off. This graduation is not the end of their struggle but the beginning of their path to future success. They vowed to apply their knowledge for the tangible advancement of Indonesia.
The success of these 15 students in completing the Double-Degree Master’s program with ENAC is expected to encourage the government and educational institutions to enhance international cooperation in education, aiming to produce quality human resources capable of competing globally.
