Introductory Talk – HK PhD Fellowship Scheme
Striving for excellence in education and research in the discipline of mechanical engineering with global out-reach and impact, The Department of Mechanical Engineering of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is now inviting outstanding graduates for full-time PhD study in Hong Kong within The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme .
The Scheme provides a monthly stipend of HK$20,000 (approximately US$2,600) and Conference and Research related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (approximately US$1,300) per year for awardees for maximum period of three years. In addition, PolyU will provide each PhD Fellowship with a 3-year tuition scholarship and guarantee hall accommodation in the first year of study. For your information, PolyU is the largest publicly funded tertiary institution in Hong Kong in terms of student population – over 31,000 students with around 1,300 research postgraduate (mostly PhD) students. As one of the founding departments of the University since 1937, The Department of Mechanical Engineering has been the forerunner of the vast evolvement of its field. We are ranked 40th in the subject of Engineering and Technology in the QS World University Rankings 2014/15 ; 42nd in the subject of engineering – mechanical, aeronautical and manufacturing in the QS World University Rankings 2013/14 ; and 39th in the subject of mechanical engineering in the National Taiwan University Ranking 2013 .
