FTMD ITB Welcomes 85 New Postgraduate Students for the 2026/2027 Academic Year
BANDUNG, ftmd.ac.id – The Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) welcomed new postgraduate students during the FTMD Postgraduate New Student Orientation on Wednesday (August 19, 2026) at the Coworking Space (RKB), 1st Floor. This event was attended by incoming Master’s (S2) and Doctoral (S3) students at FTMD as part of an orientation to the faculty’s academic environment and postgraduate education system.
For the 2026/2027 academic year, FTMD admitted 85 new postgraduate students, comprising 61 Master’s students and 24 Doctoral students.
The event commenced with opening remarks by the master of ceremonies, Nada Fauziyyah Nursadida, S.T., M.T., followed by a safety induction video screening. Subsequently, the Dean of FTMD ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hermawan Judawisastra, M.Eng., extended his welcome to the incoming students while introducing FTMD’s academic environment and leadership team.
The welcoming address continued with the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FTMD, Dr. Eng. Pandji Prawisudha, S.T., M.T. During this session, new students received an overview of postgraduate academic activities at FTMD, including introductions to program faculty members and key operational aspects of academic implementation.
The program proceeded with a joint photo session featuring the new students, the Deans, and department heads across FTMD.
Academic Briefing for Master’s and Doctoral Programs
Following the faculty-wide session, activities broke out according to respective study programs. Master’s students remained in the Coworking Space (RKB) on the 1st Floor, while Doctoral students moved to Meeting Room B on the 2nd Floor.
For Master’s students, the academic briefing was delivered by their respective study program heads: Ir. Satrio Wicaksono, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D. as Head of the Master’s Program in Mechanical Engineering; Dr. Annisa Jusuf, S.T., M.T. as Head of the Master’s Program in Aerospace Engineering; and Dr. Ir. Riza Wirawan, M.T. as Head of the Master’s Program in Materials Science and Engineering.
This session provided information regarding FTMD academic regulations, curriculum overviews, available program tracks, and academic services, concluding with a Q&A session.
Meanwhile, Doctoral students received their academic briefing from Arie Wibowo, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. as Head of the Doctoral Program. The presentation covered an overview of academic activities and the FTMD Doctoral curriculum, followed by a Q&A session.
Held Concurrently with International Student Orientation
On the same day, ITB also hosted the International Student Orientation at the East Hall, ITB Ganesha Campus. This event was geared toward international undergraduate, postgraduate, and exchange students.
Both events formed part of the broader welcoming series for incoming local and international students at ITB at the start of the 2026/2027 Academic Year.
Through this admission and orientation event, new FTMD postgraduate students are expected to gain a clear understanding of the academic environment, educational system, and various services available throughout their studies. This event also serves as the initial step for students to embark on their academic journey and connect with the academic community at FTMD and ITB.
