BANDUNG, ftmd.itb.ac.id – A total of 40 faculty lecturers and educational staffs from the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) participated in the ITB Ultra Marathon 2026 through the FTMD Runners team. Embracing the spirit of togetherness and collaboration, the team successfully completed the ultra-marathon event, covering a 180-kilometer route from Jakarta to the ITB Ganesha Campus in Bandung.
The ITB Ultra Marathon 2026 saw the participation of 5,216 runners and was officially flagged off on Friday night (October 16, 2026) at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek) Building in Jakarta. Participants completed their journey to the finish line at the ITB Ganesha Campus on Sunday (October 18, 2026).
Beyond serving as a sports activity and alumni reunion, the event carried a mission to raise funds for the ITB Endowment Fund (Dana Lestari ITB) to support educational sustainability and various social initiatives for communities along the route.
The participation of the FTMD Runners was led by Ir. Ekavianty Prajatelistia, S.T., M.S.Eng., Ph.D. as the team captain. The 40 runners—comprising 31 faculty lecturers and 9 educational staffs—were divided into three teams, each with its own distinct character and philosophy.
The three FTMD Runners teams successfully crossed the finish line with the following recorded times:
Representing the spirit of moving together through rhythm, cohesion, and the joy of running, finishing in 27 hours, 42 minutes, and 15 seconds.
— BERNOULLI R16 —
Embodying the spirit of balance through the distribution of effort and maximum contribution from each member, finishing in 31 hours, 13 minutes, and 12 seconds.
Prioritizing precision through strategy, pacing, and team coordination. The team completed the route in 31 hours, 13 minutes, and 12 seconds.
The presence of these three teams reflected the FTMD Runners’ commitment to prioritizing cooperation, consistency, and mutual support among runners throughout the journey. Beyond mere finish times, participation served as a platform to strengthen camaraderie among faculty members and education personnel through shared athletic activities.
The participation of FTMD Runners was supported Danantara Indonesia and Pindad (Defend ID) as sponsors. In addition, an eight-member support team assisted with the team’s needs throughout the event.
The support also came from alumni and student associations within FTMD, namely the Mechanical Engineering Student Association (HMM), the Aeronautical Engineering Student Family (KMPN), and the Materials Engineering Student Association (MTM).
The ITB Ultra Marathon 2026 series concluded with a Fun Run on Sunday (October 18, 2026). This event expanded opportunities for the academic community and participants to experience the spirit of sportsmanship and togetherness that characterizes the ITB Ultra Marathon.
Originating as a sports initiative within FTMD ITB, the ITB Ultra Marathon has evolved into an event engaging alumni, the academic community, and the broader public. Through the “Running for Impact” spirit, the event also supported the ITB Endowment Fund (Dana Lestari ITB) and promoted social responsibility, including the provision of clean water access and waste management along the Jakarta–Bandung route.
The participation of FTMD Runners in the ITB Ultra Marathon 2026 demonstrated that faculty camaraderie can be built not only through academic and research activities, but also through sports and social contributions. The collaborative spirit exhibited by the runners is expected to endure in supporting a healthy, solid, and impactful FTMD ITB community.
