FTMD ITB and PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol Sign Strategic Collaboration for Education, Research, and Sustainability Development
Bandung, Friday, June 19, 2026 — The Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol signed a strategic cooperation agreement to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry. This event marks the initial step in developing various joint programs in education, research, human resource development, and the implementation of sustainability principles.
The FTMD ITB delegation was led by the Dean of FTMD ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hermawan Judawisastra, M.Eng., accompanied by Dr. Eng. Ir. Firman Bagja Juangsa, S.T., M.Eng. as the Head of RIEM2TB; Dr. Eng. Ir. Gea Fardias Mu’min, S.T., M.T. as the Partnership Coordinator; Ir. M. Agus Kariem, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPU; Ir. Vani Virdyawan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.; and Ilman Nuran Zaini, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D.
Meanwhile, PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol was represented by Syahmudrian Lubis as President Director; Imam Tajudin as Operational Excellence & Service Quality Vice President; Rengganis Utami Dewi as Sustainability & ESG Vice President; Nuri Hermila as Corporate Strategy & Transformation Vice President; and Heri Gunawan as Sustainability & HSE Manager.
During the discussion session, both parties deliberated on several challenges and collaborative opportunities to be mutually developed. PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol highlighted the need for human resources with technical competencies in the operations and maintenance of various supporting facilities within recreation and entertainment areas. FTMD ITB is considered to have the potential to contribute through the development of engineering talent that aligns with these industrial needs.
The aspect of sustainability was a primary focus of the discussion. PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol presented various ongoing sustainability initiatives, particularly regarding waste management and efforts to minimize environmental impacts from operational activities. FTMD ITB welcomed this collaborative opportunity through an engineering and technological development approach that can support the creation of more effective and sustainable solutions.
Additionally, both parties discussed cooperation opportunities in clean water management, human resource capacity building, and the utilization of industrial environments as a means for student learning and experiential enrichment. Internship and industrial orientation programs were also among the opportunities explored to provide FTMD ITB students with firsthand experience regarding the challenges and demands of the professional world.
The signing of this cooperation agreement establishes the foundation for a long-term collaboration between FTMD ITB and PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol. Through synergy between academia and industry, both parties hope to deliver impactful innovations, support the development of future talents, and contribute to sustainable solutions for society and the environment.
