BANDUNG — Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) family mourns the passing of Dr. Eng. Ir. Agung Wibowo, M.T., a lecturer in the Engineering Design and Production Research Group of the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD). He passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Hasan Sadikin Regional Hospital, Bandung.

Dr. Eng. Ir. Agung Wibowo, M.T. was born in Bandung on May 6, 1968. He completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees at the Institut Teknologi Bandung. Later, he earned his doctorate from Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan. He was a dedicated academic who tirelessly pursued knowledge and contributed to higher education in Indonesia.

He began his career as a Civil Servant Candidate (CPNS) on December 1, 1995, and was subsequently appointed as a Civil Servant (PNS) on February 1, 1997. For more than two decades, Dr. Agung has served the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) of ITB, holding several key positions, including Head of the Laboratory and Facilities (2015–2025) and Assessor of the Engineering LAM (2022–2025). He also plays an active role in curriculum development and student mentoring. For his significant contributions, he received various prestigious awards, including:

  • 10-Year Satya Lancana Karya Satya (SLKS), August 9, 2010
  • Best Poster Award from the Ministry of Education and Culture, 2013
  • 20-Year Satya Lancana Karya Satya (SLKS), April 10, 2018
  • 25-Year Service Award at ITB, August 31, 2020
  • Most Comprehensive & Timely Lecture Materials Award for the MS3230 Course Materials Update, 2021
  • Most Comprehensive & Timely Lecture Materials Award for the MS5130 Course, 2022
  • Outstanding Lecturer in the Field of Institutional Development, 2023

During his lifetime, Dr. Eng. Ir. Agung Wibowo, M.T., was known for his dedication and humility. He had a profound impact on the ITB academic community and society. Beyond being a lecturer and researcher, he was a mentor who encouraged the younger generation to pursue academic and professional excellence.
