BANDUNG, ftmd.itb.ac.id – The Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) hosted a guest lecture titled “Menjaga Pintu, Melayani Rakyat: Penyelenggaraan dan Transformasi Fungsi Keimigrasian” at the CRCS 3rd Floor, ITB Ganesha Campus. This event served as a forum to discuss the transformation of immigration functions while highlighting the role of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology in supporting border surveillance and disaster management in Indonesia.

During the event, the Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services of the Republic of Indonesia, Hendarsam Marantoko, was unable to attend, and the presentation on the implementation and transformation of immigration functions was delivered by representatives from the Directorate General of Immigration.

From FTMD ITB, the event featured Dr.-Ing. Ir. Mochammad Agoes Moelyadi, S.T., M.Sc., and Dr. Ir. Yazdi Ibrahim Jenie, S.T., M.T., as speakers. Agoes Moelyadi presented “Kontribusi ITB dalam Implementasi Sistem UAV Terintegrasi untuk Pengawasan dan Kesadaran Situasional pada Wilayah Perbatasan Indonesia”, while Yazdi Ibrahim Jenie delivered a presentation titled “Teknologi UAV dalam Kebencanaan: Menuju Kemandirian Penanggulangan Bencana di Indonesia”.

Through both presentations, FTMD ITB showcased the application of UAV technology in supporting field operational needs, ranging from territorial surveillance to disaster response. This discussion underscored the connection between aerospace technology development and the requirements of public service and territorial surveillance in Indonesia.

Bringing together government and academic perspectives in a single forum provided valuable insights into bridging operational needs in the field with technological development. For FTMD ITB, this discussion forms part of ongoing efforts to expand the application of research outcomes and expertise in UAV technology to address national requirements.

Through this initiative, FTMD ITB continues to advance aerospace technology applications beyond academic research, contributing directly to public service, border surveillance, and disaster management. The guest lecture also served as a collaborative dialogue platform among academia, government, and the public to examine technological advancements relevant to Indonesia’s strategic needs.
