FTMD ITB and Boeing Discuss Strengthening Academic and Aerospace Industry Collaboration
BANDUNG, ftmd.itb.ac.id – The Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) hosted a delegation from The Boeing Company on Monday (September 21, 2026) at the FTMD ITB Seminar Room, 2nd Floor. The meeting addressed opportunities to strengthen collaboration across education, research, technology development, and aerospace talent development.
The meeting was attended by FTMD’s dean, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hermawan Judawisastra, M.Eng.; Ir. Rianto Adhy Sasongko, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D.; Dr. Annisa Jusuf, S.T., M.T.; Dr. Ir. Taufiq Mulyanto, S.T., DEA; Dr. -Ing. Ir. Javensius Sembiring, S.T, M.T.; Dr.Eng. Gea Fardias Mu’min, S.T., M.T.; as well as Alice Diniarti, S.S., M.I.Kom., Head of the International Mobility Services Section, Directorate of Partnerships ITB. Meanwhile, Boeing was represented by Indra Duivenvoorde, Managing Director of Boeing Indonesia; Veronika Andrews, Project Manager; and Christine Christyawati, Senior Safety & Regulatory Affairs Engineer, Global Safety & Regulatory Affairs.
During the meeting, both parties discussed a range of collaborative opportunities, including guest lecture and speaker exchange programs between Boeing and ITB, the expansion of student internship opportunities, knowledge-sharing activities, capacity building for faculty and students, as well as joint research and technology development. These discussions were aimed at reinforcing the connection between global aerospace industry requirements and academic capacity development at ITB.
This visit also took place within the context of the growing partnership between ITB and Boeing through various initiatives. One notable initiative is the Boeing University Innovation Leadership Development (BUILD) Indonesia 2026, launched by ITB and Boeing in May 2026 as a leadership and innovation development program for students, young alumni, and startups. Through the program, participants gain experience through workshops, mentorship, bootcamps, and industry-driven idea development.
In addition to BUILD, cooperation between ITB and Boeing has encompassed several initiatives, including curriculum assessment, speaker series, student mechanic training, and mentorship programs.
Through this visit, FTMD ITB and Boeing are expected to identify broader and sustainable collaboration opportunities, particularly in education, talent development, research, and aerospace technology innovation. This synergy is envisioned to further bolster the readiness of ITB students and graduates to meet the needs of the global aerospace industry.
