FTMD ITB Explores Motion Capture Technology Collaboration with Summit Features and Summit Vision Nusantara
BANDUNG, ftmd.itb.ac.id – The Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) hosted a visit from Summit Features Sdn Bhd (SFSB) from Malaysia and PT Summit Vision Nusantara on Tuesday (September 29, 2026) at the FTMD ITB Seminar Room, 2nd Floor. This meeting served as part of an exploration into research collaboration in biomechanics, human movement analysis, as well as the development and application of motion capture technology.
The meeting was attended by Dr.-Eng. Ir. Ferryanto, S.T., M.T., and Nada Fauziyyah Nursadida, S.T., M.T., from FTMD ITB. Meanwhile, the partner institutions were represented by Mohd Hafiz Awang Hassim, Chief Technology Officer of Summit Features Sdn Bhd, and Dr. Dimas Adiputra, CTO of PT Summit Vision Nusantara.
During the meeting, both parties introduced their respective institutions and key focus areas while discussing opportunities for joint research and technology development. Key areas explored included human movement analysis, motion capture technology, object tracking, and their applications in virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). The collaboration also holds potential for knowledge-sharing activities, training, and researcher capacity building.
Summit Features Sdn Bhd is a Malaysian company established in 2005 operating in biomechanics, human performance technology, and motion capture system integration. The company also provides technology solutions and technical support for research and industrial requirements across various fields related to movement analysis.
Following the discussion, the agenda proceeded with a lab tour of the optical motion capture facility at FTMD ITB. This facility was developed and is utilized by the FTMD ITB Biomechanics Research Team, also known as the ITB Biomechanics Laboratory. During the visit, representatives from Summit Features and PT Summit Vision Nusantara observed various equipment used in research activities while discussing the applications of the technology.
The laboratory tour provided an opportunity for both parties to exchange information regarding the development and application of motion capture technology in biomechanics research. The discussion also paved the way for identifying potential utilization of each party’s facilities and expertise to support joint research efforts.
Through this visit, FTMD ITB, Summit Features Sdn Bhd, and PT Summit Vision Nusantara are expected to follow up on collaboration opportunities in biomechanics and technology—whether through joint research, project development, or capacity-building initiatives. This collaboration is envisioned to strengthen the synergy between academia and industry in advancing technologies for movement analysis and human performance.
