Jakarta, November 28, 2024 – Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., has been officially selected as the Rector of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) for the 2025-2030 term. The selection was finalized during the Rector Election and Appointment Meeting held in Jakarta on Thursday, November 28, 2024. Currently, Prof. Tatacipta is serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) at ITB for the 2020-2024 term.

The rector selection process began in September 2024, starting with registration, followed by nomination and selection phases to determine ten initial candidates. These ten names were then narrowed down by ITB’s Academic Senate to six candidates, and finally, three finalists were submitted to the ITB Board of Trustees (MWA).

On Thursday, November 18, 2024, the MWA convened a plenary session attended by all its members, including the Rector Election Committee Chair and MWA Vice Chair, Dr. (H.C.) Drs. Ignasius Jonan, Ak., M.A., and the ITB MWA Chair, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, S.Si., CHFC., CLU. During the session, Prof. Tatacipta was selected as the new leader of ITB, surpassing the other two finalists: Prof. Brian Yuliarto, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., and Prof. Dr. Irwan Meilano, S.T., M.Sc.

As the newly selected Rector, Prof. Tatacipta envisions transforming ITB into a 4th Generation University. To achieve this, he has outlined three main strategic programs: world-class quality education, impactful research and innovation, and establishing ITB as an institution that produces leaders, pioneers, and drivers of progress.

Great expectations rest on Prof. Tatacipta’s leadership to guide ITB toward new achievements, further strengthening its role as a leading higher education institution in Indonesia and globally.
