FTMD ITB and Monash University-AIC Explore Collaboration on the Development of the Rebana Advanced Manufacturing Testing Facility
BANDUNG, ftmd.itb.ac.id – The Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) hosted a visit from Monash University and the Australia-Indonesia Centre (AIC) on Tuesday (September 22, 2026) at the FTMD ITB Seminar Room, 2nd Floor. This meeting served as an initial discussion regarding the development of the Rebana Advanced Manufacturing Testing Facility concept and potential collaboration opportunities among FTMD ITB, Monash University, and the AIC.
The meeting was attended by FTMD’s Dean, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hermawan Judawisastra, M.Eng.; Prof. Dr. Ir. Ari Darmawan Pasek, M.Sc.; Prof. Dr. Ir. Andi Isra Mahyuddin; Ir. Satrio Wicaksono, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D.; Dr.-Eng. Ir. Ferryanto, S.T., M.T.; Dr.Eng. Ir. Gea Fardias Mu’min, S.T., M.T.; Ir. Vani Virdyawan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.; and Dr. Eng. Achmad Rofi Irsyad, S.T., M.Eng., representing FTMD ITB. Meanwhile, Monash University and the AIC were represented by Prof. Aijun Huang; Kevin Evans, Director of the Australia-Indonesia Centre; Nathalia Marthaleta, Senior Program Manager at the AIC; and Monica Sylvia, Program Officer at the AIC.
The Rebana Advanced Manufacturing Testing Facility is an advanced manufacturing testing facility concept currently being developed by Monash University together with the Australia-Indonesia Centre (AIC) to support industrial development in the Rebana Metropolitan Area.
During the meeting, FTMD ITB and both institutions discussed opportunities for ITB’s involvement in developing the facility, particularly through research collaboration, material testing, advanced manufacturing technology, and human resource development. Monash University serves as the technical design lead, while the AIC supports proposal development and facility governance. This discussion marks an initial step in exploring collaboration to strengthen the advanced manufacturing ecosystem in Indonesia.
This discussion serves as a preliminary step in opening broader collaboration opportunities among FTMD ITB, Monash University, and the AIC. Moving forward, this collaboration is expected to support the development of advanced manufacturing technology while strengthening research capacity and human resources to meet the industrial needs of the Rebana Metropolitan Area and Indonesia.
